The anticipated launch of a new console generation is always an exciting time. There are tons of new and exciting games to see, and we did our best to scout the E3 floor this year and get the first glimpse at all the upcoming titles. Of course, current generation consoles is still alive and kicking, so we saw a few of current gen games as well. If you want to read all of our content from the show, why not swing by our E3 Previews section? But we’re here for a different reason – to crown the best 10 games that we saw this year.

These titles were impressive because of their ambition, or perhaps their design, or even just being plain fun to play. We’ve narrowed down our list, and you can check it out below. These games were voted on by the collective members of staff at New Game Network, and are listed in alphabetical order.

Beyond: Two Souls
Beyond: Two Souls

Fans of Heavy Rain will be pleased. The new addition of directional fight controls proves to be immersive and challenging as no on-screen prompts are used, and the player must use the limited time-slowing opportunity to pick the correct direction of Jodie’s attack or defense. Many considered The Last of Us to be the swan song of PlayStation 3, but even though Beyond: Two Souls is releasing in October, likely a few months within PlayStation 4, it may yet take that crown for itself.

Destiny
Destiny

It’s early still, but Destiny is showing a lot of hallmarks of a Bungie shooter: aliens that resemble humans in battle strategy and behaviors, weaponry that alternates between the familiar and the bizarre, and play with starkly contrasting scales of size. Binding those skills to a Diablo or Borderlands-style RPG element seems a savvy choice, one that rightly has a lot of folks chomping at the bit for more time with Destiny.
