Microsoft Previews 2012 lineup at Spring Showcase
Publisher reveals new details on Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Gears of War 3 DLC
Last week, Microsoft held its annual Spring Showcase in San Francisco, revealing new details on a range of upcoming and released games.
Halo 4 by 343 Industries was treated with a behind-the-scenes video at HaloWaypoint. Launching worldwide at the end of this year, the title promises a new direction with the return of Master Chief, and the beginning of a new saga.
Forza Horizon by Playground Games was officially announced as a pick-up-and-play racing game and the newest entry in the Forza Motorsport franchise. The title will be released this Fall. Forza 4, meanwhile, is set to recieve a large update with 30 modern and classic Porsche vehicles, as the licensing agreement for the game has finally been sorted.
Forces of Nature map pack for Gears of War 3 was revealed as coming on March 27. Included in the game’s Season Pass or available for 800 Microsoft Points, Forces of Nature will feature five maps, new characters, new weapon skins and a 250 Gamescore. Also, starting March 27, Gears of War 3 will be available through Games on Demand.
Meanwhile, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City from Capcom will get an exclusive fifth online competitive multiplayer versus battle available only for Xbox 360.
Kinect was promoted with built-in functions for Mass Effect 3, Fable: The Journey, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13, and Kinect Star Wars.
For XBLA, Fable Heroes was announced as a downloadable title that will tie-in with Journey. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from Valve was re-confirmed for a summer release.
