Kinect captures Guinness World Record
Microsoft's motion controller named "Fastest Selling Consumer Electronics Device"
Guinness World Records has recognized Microsoft's Kinect for the Xbox 360 as the "Fastest Selling Consumer Electronics Device" today.
Between November 4, 2010 and January 3, 2011, the company sold an average of 133,333 units per day for a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale. These sales figures best both the iPhone and iPad for the equivalent launch periods.
"The sales figures here speak for themselves," said Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records. "After extensive research, we can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."
Kinect's "Fastest Selling Consumer Electronic Device" record will be included in next year's Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition.
