Shenmue 3 sets new Kickstarter record
New funding record for a video game is set
Ys Net's Shenmue 3 has become the most successful video game project ever on Kickstarter.
The open world action game sequel has successfully raised $6,333,296 USD with 69,320 backers. Previously, Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained held the most-funded record for about a month.
Shenmue 3 will have familiar elements from its predecessors and new fight mechanics to achieve a new level of interactive storytelling. The game got a big reveal and lots of publicity during Sony's E3 2015 press conference.
Shenmue 3 will be available on the PS4 and PC in 2017.
