Another year, another E3 for the crew at New Game Network. Similarly to last year, we attended and covered the show a group of hard working staff members to bring you as much info as possible. And as we enjoy doing after the dust has settled, we created a list of our favorites. As voted on by the folks who attended the big show this year, here are the Best Games of E3 2015! As usual, they are listed in alphabetical order. And a video to celebrate, watch it below!

Remember that these are the few that made the cut – there are plenty of other games that we enjoyed! Visit our E3 Previews section to catch up on all the coverage from this year’s show.

Cuphead
Cuphead

It’s easy to praise Cuphead for the aesthetics; it clearly stands apart with hand-drawn characters and pulls at nostalgia for cartoons of our past. But it’s unfair to neglect the work Studio MDHR is doing with gameplay. I didn’t see anything revolutionary during my time with Cuphead, but the seed of rewarding design with tight mechanics definitely had me captivated.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

During our demo, the developers hoped to show off the four main Deus Ex pillars – social, combat, stealth, and hacking. They’ve certainly succeeded in doing so. While the social engagement felt underwhelming, the rest of the experience looks and feels like Deus Ex. Building on the success of Human Revolution, there’s no doubt that Mankind Divided is shaping up to be yet another excellent follow-up.

Fallout 4
Fallout 4

Perhaps one of the most anticipated games of the last few years, Fallout 4’s preview and close release date were the talk of E3. The world is the most important character in Fallout 4, ranging from those creepy moments in abandoned buildings to the more B-movie-esque wacky characters and scenarios. The post-apocalyptic game will showcase humanity’s ability to adapt and continue their lives after the bombs dropped.

FIFA 16
FIFA 16

We’ve been checking out FIFA almost every year we’ve been covering E3, and the sports franchise manages to impress almost every time. With FIFA 16, EA promises to bring changes to every aspect of the team play, and add notable new content with women’s teams. From what we’ve played of the game, the changes are already apparent and will likely cause players to shift their strategy and adjust to a more balanced game of footy.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

We’ve seen a lot of glimpses into Metal Gear Solid V over the past year – from the previous E3, to Gamescom, and to this year’s conventions. And with every trailer and gameplay sample, the open world game in the iconic stealth series continues to paint an impressive picture. Being potentially the last game from the longstanding Konami collaboration with franchise creator Hideo Kojima, we hope it’s a good one.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst feels like a less restrictive game than its predecessor. Players are likely to spend less time trying to complete the perfect jump and more time hurriedly running through the parkour-friendly levels. The waypoint system means you’re less likely to get stuck because you’re not finding the right ledge to leap from. The combat feels more forgiving and makes it easier to roll through enemies. Hopefully, making Mirror’s Edge a more forgiving game will make it even better than the original.

Need for Speed
Need for Speed 2015

After the presentation and hands-on time with the new Need for Speed, it’s clear that Ghost Games have taken their time to craft a solid entry in the long running racing franchise. It undoubtedly helps that they had an extended development cycle, and based on what I’ve seen and played, this may very well be a worthwhile continuation of the franchise on the new consoles. I’ll never be pleased with using the same name, but I was sold on the gameplay experience.

Soma
Soma

SOMA seeks to recreate a horrifying experience by attention to detail and a chilling ambience. It’s a slow game where hiding and puzzle solving are as important as running. While Frictional Games have seen new competitors arise in their niche, we’ve yet to see anyone make a game as haunting as their debut title. It’s nice to see them back with a desire to add to their audience’s nightmares.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

From the looks of it, the game is back to its non-stop ridiculously adventurous roots. Even with a short demo, its layered and diverse action throws players right into the scene, always allowing them to have control, which the series has done so well. I’m rather excited to see where Uncharted 4 plans to whisk me away to.

XCOM 2
XCOM 2

With procedurally generated levels and this new hit-and run style of play, XCOM 2 looks like it is a game which is designed to keep players on their toes. The small cutscenes that accompany kill shots, new enemies, and other events are much more impressive and visually engaging than in the previous game. It is truly an evolution of XCOM.
