EA Sports confirms NHL 15 game modes

EA Sports has confirmed the gameplay modes that will be appearing in NHL 15 when the game launches next month.

On PS4 and Xbox One, fans can partake in Play Now, Be A Pro, Be A GM, Online Versus, Hockey Ultimate Team, and NHL Moments Live. Online Team Play is said to be coming later via a patch. On PS3 and Xbox 360 meanwhile, the list is the same and also adds GM Connected, NHL 94 Anniversary Mode, and EA SPORTS Hockey League.

Most notable is the omission of the popular online modes in the next-gen versions of NHL 15, namely EA SPORTS Hockey League (EASHL) and GM Connected (introduced just two years ago). To that end, the developers asked fans to be patient in a statement, since the news of omission of these modes has leaked in the week prior, and caused quite a heated debate within the community.

"Decisions like this are never easy, nor do we take them lightly. We know that there is a passionate group of fans that loves these modes and is no doubt disappointed with this news; but we also know that this same group of fans expects a high quality gameplay experience above anything else. We’re a franchise built on quality, so launching these modes without confidence in their quality wasn’t something that we were willing to do."

NHL 15 will be released on September 9th, 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4.
