Gran Turismo movie in the works

Sony Pictures has begun development on a film project for its long-running racing sim Gran Turismo.

The only names attached to the project so far are producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, who are also co-producing the upcoming adaptation for 50 Shades of Grey, reports GI. There is no word on any release timings or actors attached.

This is the second movie in development based on a racing franchise, the other being Need for Speed. EA just recently provided a first look at the production at E3 2013, with the film slated to arrive next year.

The next game in the racing franchise is Gran Turismo 6, expected to release on PlayStation 3 later this year.
