A new update is available for the Games for Windows Live client. finally bringing the ability for Microsoft to sell PC games.
Games for Windows Live has received a new update, version 3.2. This version marks the start of Microsoft's foray into PC digital distribution. This event has been long anticipated for the GFW Live service since it launched in early 2007 with Halo 2.
Microsoft have up till now refused to sell any of their first party titles via other digital services like Steam or Direct2Drive. However with the launch of Games of Demand for the PC Microsoft Game Studios is selling Viva Pinata on the service. Will this mean that titles like Halo 2 and Gears of War will make their presence known on the PC digital channel?
Current prices aren't exactly inline with competitors however that may change over the coming weeks. Most of the games available are indeed sold via other digital channels with publishers like Codemasters, THQ, Capcom represented with games.
Some games currently available are:
Section 8
Resident Evil 5
Street Fighter 4
Viva Pinata
Fallout 3
Shadownrun
Red Faction: Guerrilla
