Sony PlayStation Network hit with a major outage
PSN has been down for over 24 hours, Sony still working on a fix
Sony's Playstation Network services have been down since April 20th evening, and are still unavailable, including Qriocity.
The PS Blog has been diligently posting updates to the situation. The latest post by Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications, brings grim news.
"An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th."
"We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience."
This outage comes on the heels of threats by hacker group Anonymous, who claims to be dissatisfied by the recent settlement between Sony and hacker Hotz. However, the group so far has denied taking responsibility for this external attack.
There is no word on how long the outage may last, but previous posts on the official blog suggest at least a few days.
