DayZ sells 1 million copies
Alpha for survival shooter off to a flying start
Dean Hall from Bohemia Interactive has said that the standalone version of DayZ has reached 1 million sales.
This sales milestone for an alpha is very impressive, as the game reached it after just a month of public release.
"Well, 1 million copies in 4 weeks. So much for the death of PC Gaming. The best part about DayZ's success, for me, is that I can now make all the games I've always wanted but that everyone said was too niche," Hall commented on Twitter.
In DayZ, you are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo or team up with friends, as you choose your path using whatever means you stumble upon to survive.
The game first shot to popularity as a mod for Arma II, and has since then went standalone. The publisher recently said the success of the Alpha will speed up development, but Beta isn't expected until late 2014.
