Titan Quest devs working on Grim Dawn
Former Iron Lore developers (Titan Quest) formed Crate Entertainment and are now making Grim Dawn. They are requesting funds from the community to keep their project independent.
While Iron Lore is now defunct, developers from the former studio behind Titan Quest have reformed as Crate Entertainment. Although previously working on Black Legion they struggled to get funding for the project.
Currently their project is Grim Dawn, an action RPG that is using the same graphics engine as Titan Quest. Although Crate Entertainment has only 6 in house team members they are outsourcing some of the content to other studios.
Interestingly they are requesting support from fans, Titan Quest or Indie developer fans can "preorder" the game using a paypal donation and even get your name in the credits. Three versions are available
Legendary Fan Edition - $48
Epic Fan Edition - $32
Normal Edition - $19.85
The more expensive versions will give you extra goodies such as having your name in the credits and access to beta or even alpha versions.
Head to their website to contribute. Their hope is not necessarily to avoid using publishers to fund the game, rather to have more leverage with their own property once it comes to selecting a publisher so they don't lose control of their own created property.
