EA shuts down Madden 09 online February 2010

EA will be shutting down servers for Madden NFL 09 at the start of February, along with a number of other older EA games.

As of February 2nd 2010 EA will be removing master servers from many of their older sports games. Perhaps the biggest of those games is Madden 09, released in August 2008. You can still play single player but you can no longer play multiplayer on Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360.

That gives Madden NFL 09 an online lifetime of about 18 months.Will that mean that Madden NFL 10 will cease online operations early 2011, only time will tell.
