Steven Ogg Dismisses GTA 6 Hype, Says He Feels "Nothing"

GTA 5's Trevor actor Steven Ogg says he feels "nothing" about GTA 6, admitting he's never played video games, despite the game's May 2026 launch.

Steven Ogg, the actor best known to millions of players for portraying Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V, has once again stated that he is not caught up in the excitement surrounding Rockstar’s next blockbuster, Grand Theft Auto VI. During a recent convention appearance, Ogg was asked how excited he was for the upcoming title, and his response wasn't what fans hoped for: “I feel nothing inside. I’m not a gamer.” He went on to explain that he has never played a video game in his life, not even Grand Theft Auto 5, the game that helped bring him international recognition.

Ogg’s lack of enthusiasm for gaming has been a recurring subject among fans ever since his performance as Trevor made him one of the most recognizable characters in the franchise. While some have wondered whether his indifference extends to the role itself, Ogg has previously rejected that suggestion, saying that Trevor is an “awesome” character. Still, he remains detached from the world of video games, a point that surfaced once again in this latest interview.

During the convention interview, Ogg recalled an earlier encounter where someone urged him to try GTA 5. He responded by suggesting they read Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment instead, since, in his words, “Books are my thing.” Standing beside him, Franklin’s actor Shawn Fonteno interjected, prompting laughter from the crowd. The exchange, later shared online by GTA 6 Countdown on September 20, 2025, quickly spread across social media and drew mixed reactions, with some fans shrugging and others voicing frustration that the actor most associated with Trevor has no connection to the games themselves.

Ogg, now 51, has occasionally shown a playful side when addressing the legacy of Trevor. Earlier in 2025, he even suggested the idea of returning for a cameo in Grand Theft Auto 6 only to have the character immediately killed off, a tongue-in-cheek remark that underscored his detachment from the ongoing hype while still acknowledging the role’s enduring popularity. His comments arrive at a time when public anticipation for GTA 6 is so intense that it has even spilled into the gambling world. Betting markets have opened on whether Rockstar will deliver the game on time, with major outlets such as Kalshi listing around a 75 percent chance that it will be released before June 2026. Other betting platforms, including OLBG, have echoed this outlook, offering even odds on the same timeframe. These wagers mirror the growing confidence among players and speculators that Rockstar will stick to its promised schedule.

By contrast, other actors tied to Rockstar projects have embraced both their roles and the games. Roger Clark of Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno from GTA 5, have all actively engaged with fans and expressed enthusiasm for their work. Ogg, however, maintains that his relationship to the franchise is purely professional, rooted in the performance and not in personal gaming experience.

As for the game itself, Grand Theft Auto 6 is now scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026, following its most recent delay. The game will release first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC port has not been officially confirmed, but based on Rockstar’s release history, such as the staggered PC launches of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, fans may not see a computer version until late 2027 or early 2028. Pre-orders for the game have not yet opened, and Rockstar has not released details about editions or pricing.
