Singularity PC issues discovered
Singularity PC has Texture Streaming Problems, community fix found
Making use of Epic's Unreal Engine, Singularity features very few load screens throughout its ten-hour campaign, and so relies on Unreal's impressive streaming technology. Unfortunately, entire areas taking an age to load - far longer than would be seen when using an actual load screen, reports VE3D. For the most part, players will be running and gunning and so can't hang around waiting for the game to get its act together, turning a decent-looking shooter into a 1990's mess.
As ever, enterprising gamers have found a few workarounds, but nothing coming close to a fix. Regrettably, these require users to delve into the murky world of registry editing, rather than the simple modification of an .ini file as one might expect. Activision and Raven have been contacted for comment, and the reply simply stated: "We are investigating the issue. To clarify this appears to be PC only and we will be sure to keep you up to date."
Singularity hits North American shelves tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PS3 alongside PC, and was released in Europe last week.
