Multiple online game services hit by outage

PSN and Xbox Live affected in an apparent attack

Posted on

There are reports today that a Denial of Service attack has been affecting the services of multiple gaming companies.

The widespread attack is impacting Sony's PSN, Microsoft's Xbox Live, and other services. It's also causing problems for servers of Blizzard, Sony Online Entertainment, and games League of Legends and Path of Exile.

An apparent new group has claimed responsibility for the day's events, but not to give them further publicity their name won't be mentioned here.

Users who are experiencing problems connecting to their gaming networks today should keep mindful of the ongoing problems and maybe try again tomorrow. It should also be noted that DDoS attacks are not hacks, so no information should be compromised. It's simply overloading the servers.
