Next Need for Speed entry moves into 2015
First time in over 10 years that an annual NFS entry will not appear
Electronic Arts and developers Ghost Games have confirmed that 2014 will mark the first time in more than 10 years that a Need for Speed game will not be released.
EA's annual racing franchise is taking time to create something truly fresh and exciting for the fans. Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer and GM at Ghost Games commented: "We’ve made the decision to not release a Need for Speed in 2014, so we can work towards a highly innovative Need for Speed in 2015."
"We are already deep in development on our next game and want to make this promise to you: we will listen to you. We’re going to give you the game you’ve been asking for. It will be the game you deserve, but to do that will take us some time."
The long running racing franchise has gone through multiple developers over the years, and seen its share of highs and lows. But overall, over 150 million units have been sold through the years.
2013's Need for Speed Rivals performed well and brought the franchise back to strength. A feature film based on the series was also just recently released.
