Sony Online Entertainment consolidates game access
New membership grants access to all eligible SOE games, Planetside 1 goes free
Starting this week, Sony Online Entertainment will be rolling out a new All Access membership plan across all its titles.
In the new All Access plan, members will be able to claim 500 Station Cash monthly from within the game marketplaces, receive a 10% discount on marketplace purchases, and gain access to exclusive promotions and offers throughout the year.
More importantly, however, is that the company will be upgrading all existing individual game memberships to the new All Access plan, which will include the top-tier membership level in all eligible SOE games (EverQuest, EverQuest II, DC Universe Online PC, PlanetSide 2 PC, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and the upcoming EverQuest Next, Landmark and H1Z1). Players will get access to all these titles for one monthly price of $14.99, easing the burden of managing multiple subscriptions and accounts.
On or about April 29th, all players with existing memberships will be automatically upgraded into the new plan. Players who were already All Access members will automatically see their bill decrease from the current $19.99/month plan to the new lower price.
A detailed FAQ can be found at the official SOE website.
Finally, in related news, SOE will offer PlanetSide 1 as free to play game for everyone as the new program rolls out. Players should note that PS1 has no Marketplace and will not see further game development.
