2K Sports ends MLB games development

2K has said that it will end the development of baseball video games, thus meaning an end to the MLB 2K franchise.

There will be no MLB 2K14 edition this year, thus making last year's MLB 2K13 the final game in the series. The franchise has been going since 2005.

"We have decided not to renew our MLB 2K series for 2014. We are very proud of the achievements made by the MLB 2K team and look forward to their contributions to our future titles, including NBA 2K," said the publisher in a statement.

That leaves Sony Computer Entertainment's MLB 14 The Show as the only triple-A baseball game coming this year. As it is exclusive to Sony platforms, all other platforms won't have a baseball game in 2014.
