Microsoft announces "Game Room"
Coming to PC and Xbox 360 via Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live is Microsoft's game room, allowing you to play arcade games for real money in the virtual world.

Microsoft have announced a new software package for PCs and Xbox 360 consoles coming Spring 2010. The software is called "Game Room" and will allow gamers to walk around a virtual space - similar to Playstation Home - and play old arcade games on virtual machines.
Gamers on both Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live will be able to download the "Game Room" for free and will be able to walk around for free. Should you wish to try a game you'll be spending roughly 40 MS points for each game as a trial. If you wish to buy that game for your own room it will cost 240 - 400 MS points.
Gamers will be able to play these retro games in their freinds game rooms for no charge so players will likely buy many games to entice more of their friends to visit their own rooms and be popular in the virtual space.
Interestingly you'll be able to walk around in your Avatar character. Those with Games for Windows Live only will currently not have access to an Avatar character. This may indicate that Avatars will be available to PC gamers who currently don't own an Xbox 360.
The system will include Cross Platform Leaderboards so it's likely that the PC and 360 gamers will be able to play against and with each other.
Game Room is slated for Spring 2010.
