Updated Kinect coming to Windows next year

Next generation sensor will be compatible with Windows platform

Posted on

Following up on the reveal of the new Xbox One system earlier this week, the Kinect for Windows team has announced the company will deliver a new Kinect for Windows sensor next year.

Both new sensors (the new Kinect sensor and the new Kinect for Windows sensor) will be built on a shared set of technologies. Delivering better precision and intuitive responsiveness, the new Kinect for Windows sensor will include: higher fidelity, an expanded field of view, improved skeletal tracking, and all-new active infrared.

The current Kinect for Windows was also released not long after the Xbox 360 version hit stores.
