Crytek opens first studio in North America

New developer houses former Vigil Games staff

Posted on

Crytek today unveiled their ninth worldwide studio, situated in Austin, Texas. Crytek USA Corp. is the company’s first US-based studio.

“Crytek has always enjoyed a special relationship with gamers and business partners in North America, so establishing a permanent presence in the US was a natural step,” said Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli.

The newly appointed CEO of Crytek USA is David Adams, formerly of Vigil Games who were recently closed following the bankrupcy of publisher THQ. IGN confirms that most of the staff are ex-Vigil employees as well. Essentially, the studio was reformed under Crytek following its closure last week.

Crytek USA follows on from the recently-opened Crytek Istanbul as the company’s newest studio.
