Steam Greenlight introduces fee to submit projects
A $100 fee introduced to limit spam
Since going live last week, Steam Greenlight has over 700 submissions. But now Valve is stepping up to control the quality of the submissions.
"There is unfortunately a significant amount of noise and clutter being submitted, either as a joke or by fans not fully understanding the purpose of Greenlight," says Alden Kroll.
As such, a $100 fee has been introduced for someone to post to Steam Greenlight. The proceeds will be donated to Child’s Play, as Valve claims they have no interest in making money from this. This is the company's attempt to only allow legitimate submissions to the tool.
The solution has already come under some criticism, particularly from small or solo developers who claim that the fee is too high for them to afford.
