Aion going free to play
NCsoft changes the MMO model of Aion in Europe
Gameforge and NCsoft have revealed a new and free to play business model for Aion, the online role-playing game. Starting in February 2012, players in Europe will be able to download the full version of the game for free and play without any subscription costs.
Songyee Yoon, Chief Strategic Officer from NCsoft commented: "By introducing the free-to-play model, we hope more gamers in Europe will be able to experience the epic story of Aion. NCsoft welcomes the partnership with Gameforge with its long MMO experience in the free-to-play sector and its excellent knowledge of the European market."
Aion is set in the world of Atreia, which has been continually expanded and constantly improved in cooperation with the community since 2009. Update 2.7 added a host of new content, including new PvP and PvE areas and skill tweaks.
Detailed information and FAQ about the free-to-play model can be found at www.aionfreetoplay.com. The free to play model is only set to become available in Europe for now.
