Black Friday video game sales kick off
Savings for all platforms and genres, from PSN to XBL and Steam to celebrate Thanksgiving in USA
A number of outlets and publishers have kicked off their Black Friday video game deals, to celebrate Thanksgiving in USA this weekend.
For PC users, the Steam Autumn Sale is on now. The sale begins with savings on catalog discounts and daily deals - beginning today with Portal 2 (66% off), Call of Duty: Black Ops (50% off), Duke Nukem Forever (66% off), and more. Other digital retailers such as Direct2Drive and Green Man Gaming are set to follow.
PlayStation fans can also enjoy savings on various games and DLC titles up to 30% off, from November 21 to 28. The Fall Sale is PSN-wide, but Plus subscribers see an increased discount on the sale items with a full 50% off the regular price.
The Xbox LIVE Fan Appreciation Sale, meanwhile, also features discounts on everything from Games on Demand to DLC and Arcade titles. Savings range from 33% to 50% off. In Addition, Xbox LIVE Free Users can upgrade to 12-months of Gold for 33% off the regular price.
Last but not least, Amazon's Black Friday Deals offer discounts on almost everything imaginable, video games included of course. Taking up to 33% off tons of titles, even the most recent releases, and with free shipping on orders over $20.
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sale in Canada, Australia, and UK.
