Battlefield 1943 cancelled on PC
Spinoff shooter won't make it to PC players after all. Onslaught DLC for Bad Company 2 also canned.
Up on the Battlefield Blog, Karl Magnus Troedsson, general manager of DICE, brought some grim news to PC players today. In the announcement, it was revealed that both Battlefield 1943 and Onslaught DLC for Bad Company 2 will not make it to PC.
"We know some of you eagerly have been awaiting Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught on PC. I’m sad to say that these two titles are now officially cancelled," said Troedsson. "This is one of those cross roads where I need to make a hard decision. While we’ll continue supporting Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and previous games, it’s time to look ahead to the next giant leap for DICE – the release of Battlefield 3."
"We’re confident this will lead to an even better experience in Battlefield 3, not only on PC, but on all platforms."
Battlefield 1943 was released way back in summer 2009, while Onslaught was live on summer of last year on PS3 and Xbox 360. Both products were doubted to arrive on PC, but constantly promised to keep hopes alive on PC.
Battlefield 3 is set for a GDC reveal on March 1.
