Marvel's Venom PS5 Game: Eddie Brock, Carnage, Anti-Venom, and Release Rumors
New leaks detail Marvel's Venom PS5 game, including Eddie Brock as lead, Carnage as villain, Tony Todd's recordings, and a possible 2026-2027 release.
A well-known Marvel leaker has shared new information about Marvel’s Venom game for PlayStation 5, a project that was first revealed during the Insomniac Games cyberattack in late 2023. The breach exposed several unannounced Marvel titles in development at the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man, including a standalone Venom game positioned as a spin-off. Documents from the leak indicated the game was scheduled for release in 2025.
The new claims come from Redacted Guy on X, who stated that the Venom project was, or at one point had been, far along in development. According to the report, the combat system, traversal system, and story were completed. Motion capture and dialogue recorded by Tony Todd, who voiced Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, were also said to be finished. These details align with the original 2025 release window revealed in the 2023 leak.
Venom is interesting because from what I know

• Combat system was completed
• traversal system was completed
• story was essentially smoothed out
• even Mocap and lines from Tony Todd were recorded
But the game is also small enough where due to the breach it could have… https://t.co/Asql8HOTHZ pic.twitter.com/dQPL1xoZBL
The same source suggested, however, that the 2023 breach may have contributed to the game’s cancellation. Because the project was described as “small enough,” it could have been shelved by PlayStation and Insomniac Games following the security incident. Contradictory reports have circulated as well. One rumor claimed that the leak only disrupted Insomniac’s pipeline, delaying Venom’s launch from 2025 to 2026; it also stated the game would be revealed later in 2025, but if no announcement takes place, cancellation will be more strongly considered. Observers have noted that Insomniac has also remained silent on Marvel’s Wolverine, making the lack of news on Venom less conclusive.
Additional reporting from MP1ST indicated that Venom is still in development, though no timeline was provided. The site noted that Insomniac may be prioritizing Marvel’s Wolverine, which is reportedly planned for 2026, pushing Venom’s potential release window to 2027.
The idea of a Venom game first gained traction after players controlled the character in a dedicated section of 2023’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Further credibility came when Tony Todd stated that most of his recorded lines were not used in Spider-Man 2, implying they may have been reserved for another project. Todd passed away in November 2024, but reports suggest his work for Venom had already been completed.
Details from the leaks and rumors also describe the story. Eddie Brock is said to be the protagonist, consistent with his role as the original host of the symbiote in Marvel Comics. The depiction of Brock is expected to resemble his comic appearance, including short blonde hair, a muscular build, and possibly a beard, differing from the portrayals by Tom Hardy and Topher Grace in live-action films. Cletus Kasady’s Carnage, teased in a Spider-Man 2 side quest, is rumored to appear as the main villain. Anti-Venom is also rumored to feature, in a comic-accurate, “monstrous-looking” form distinct from the simplified version introduced in Spider-Man 2. Reports claim that Eddie Brock would eventually wield and maintain control over Anti-Venom within the story.
According to the 2023 leak, the Venom game was planned as an “AA-sized” release, similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which bridged the gap between Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The Venom title was described as serving the same purpose as Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3.
At present, neither Insomniac Games nor PlayStation has made any official comment on the Venom spin-off or the recent reports. Redacted Guy has been accurate in some previous leaks, but does not have a perfect record. With no confirmation from the studio or publisher, the future of Marvel’s Venom remains uncertain. Rumors point to possible outcomes ranging from a release delay into 2026 or 2027 to the possibility of cancellation, but nothing has been verified.
