On Monday, August 18, Cenat hosted a livestream at 8:30 PM PST to reveal his upcoming Fortnite Icon Series skin. Time conversions listed the stream as 11:30 PM EST, 4:30 AM BST in the United Kingdom, and 12:30 PM JST/KST in Japan and Korea. While the streamer did not announce a release date for his skin during the reveal, the confirmation placed him among other high-profile Icon Series members, which include Ninja, TheGrefg, Lachlan, Clix, Sabrina Carpenter, Travis Scott, Major Lazer, Mariah Carey, Eminem, Billie Eilish, Patrick Mahomes, and MrBeast.
The Fortnite Icon Series is a collection of in-game cosmetics created to celebrate popular streamers, musicians, and celebrities. Previous releases have featured Travis Scott and Major Lazer among the earliest musicians, as well as streamers such as Ninja, Lachlan, and TheGrefg. Fortnite’s library of skins also features collaborations with television, film, and music, including those with Mariah Carey and Eminem. Cenat’s addition continues Epic Games’ strategy of integrating cultural figures into the game.
At the same time, Fortnite’s cosmetic economy has also drawn attention for the way in-game purchases are handled. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is in the process of distributing $126 million in refunds to 969,173 Fortnite players who were charged for unwanted items such as skins between January 2017 and September 2022. This action followed a $245 million settlement in 2022, after regulators found that Epic Games billed players without proper consent and, in some cases, restricted access to accounts when charges were disputed. The final deadline to apply was July 9, 2025, which has now passed, so no new claims are being accepted.
Similar incidents have been reported internationally. In Buckinghamshire, UK, a mother discovered her 10-year-old son had spent £1,200 on Fortnite purchases. Microsoft refunded £800, and the parent installed monitoring software to prevent further charges. Situations like this show how Fortnite’s in-game spending system can cause problems, especially for kids who may not realize that these digital items cost real money.
Cenat’s standing in streaming has been maintained by his consistently high performance on Twitch. He is regularly among the top five most-subscribed channels and currently holds the third-highest follower count on the platform, with more than 18.6 million followers. His content has included themed livestreams, such as a Japanese-themed Sekiro broadcast and a Minecraft session where he dressed in full Steve cosplay and built a matching blocky setup. He also expanded his streaming presence beyond gaming, including hosting a livestream from the 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony.
His relationship with Fortnite includes a high-profile collaborative stream. In December 2024, Cenat and fellow streamer iShowSpeed held a Fortnite marathon that peaked at 186,000 concurrent viewers and amassed over 5.3 million hours watched. The broadcast lasted 57 hours, during which they recorded more than 200 in-game deaths before finally securing a victory on December 30.
Cenat’s announcement arrives at a time when Fortnite has been experiencing a slight dip in player activity. Data from Fortnite.gg shows that the player count has declined since the game’s major updates in June 2025, leaving it at one of its lowest levels in recent years. Epic Games is counting on collaborations like Cenat’s to reignite excitement among players, and his fanbase could provide exactly the kind of energy needed to draw people back into the game.
The reaction within the Fortnite community was immediate. Professional player Clix responded to Cenat’s post by calling him a “legend.” Industry figures, including CouRage and XSET manager Feldy, also showed support. Fans contributed by sharing edited images of Cenat appearing in the Fortnite Item Shop, including a post by streamer yoxic.
Fortnite continues to expand with new crossovers. Leaks have suggested that the 2025 Halloween event, known as Fortnitemares, will introduce Scooby-Doo skins, including multiple versions of Shaggy. Rumors have also circulated about Friday the 13th content, including Jason Voorhees. Cenat’s addition to the Icon Series comes in advance of these events, positioning him as part of Fortnite’s latest wave of content updates.
