Blizzard Confirms No Major Diablo 4 Updates Until Season 10 Launch
Find out why Diablo 4 won't receive major updates until Season 10, as Blizzard confirms no new content is coming during Season 9 beyond minor bug fixes.
On social platform X, Blizzard Entertainment’s Director of Social and Content Marketing, Adam Fletcher, confirmed that no major Diablo 4 updates would be released until the launch of Season 10. Fletcher replied to a comment from user “itzmatt92,” who wrote under Fletcher’s personal post about a dentist visit, “Would love some updates or something for d4. It’s kinda stale atm.” Fletcher responded, “We are in between seasons so nothing to share yet. Next update around PTR for S10/S10 Launch.”

Season 9 of Diablo 4, titled Sins of the Horadrim, began on July 1, 2025. The season introduced features such as Horadric Spellcraft and Escalating Nightmares, which were added to expand the game’s endgame systems. According to the coverage from TheGamer, the Diablo 4 community has expressed mixed reactions to recent seasonal content. Reported concerns included technical issues and the game’s focus on limited meta builds.
In light of the current lull in updates, it's worth mentioning that Blizzard has previously faced attention for including gambling-like features in the Diablo series. Activision Blizzard was fined €5,000 by PEGI, the Pan European Game Information board, for failing to disclose the presence of loot boxes in Diablo Immortal. PEGI determined that the publisher did not include the required information about paid random item mechanics when submitting the game for classification. After the issue was identified, PEGI stated that Activision Blizzard corrected its marketing and storefront listings.
For Diablo 4, there has been no official mention of loot boxes or paid chance-based mechanics. The released patch version 2.3.2 on July 29, 2025, was focused solely on resolving bugs. No changes to gameplay systems or new content additions have been announced by Blizzard since the beginning of Season 9.
The timeline for the start of Season 10 has not been explicitly confirmed by Blizzard. That said, based on past season durations, which typically run close to three months, it is anticipated that Season 10 will begin around the end of September 2025. Exceptions to this trend occurred with Season 7 and Season 8, one lasting longer and the other shorter than usual.
Blizzard has previously indicated that a new expansion for Diablo 4 will not be released in 2025. The next expansion is scheduled for 2026, and its announcement followed earlier plans for yearly expansions, which have since shifted. In April, Blizzard revealed the 2025 roadmap, which ends with Season 10. The absence of a listed start date for Season 10 in that roadmap added to player concerns about a lack of upcoming content.
On Steam, Diablo 4 currently maintains a 24-hour peak of 15,155 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. Its all-time peak is 55,561. While these figures show a reduction since launch, they also mentioned that the game continues to retain a core player base.
Following the 2023 release of Diablo 4, Blizzard has launched multiple seasons. The most recent expansion, Vessel of Hatred, was released in 2024. The company has not provided further public details beyond Fletcher’s statement about the timing of the next update. No additional development plans have been shared.
