Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 Brings New Monsters, Underwater Combat, and PC Fixes
Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update 2 adds Lagiacrus, Seregios, underwater combat, PC performance fixes, and prepares for the Festival of Harmony.
Capcom has officially launched Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds, the free mid-year content drop that arrives following a period of significant player loss and negative reception on PC. The update went live on June 30, 2025, after its release date was inadvertently revealed on the PlayStation Store ahead of Capcom’s planned announcement during the Capcom Spotlight livestream on June 25. Despite the early leak, the update rolled out on schedule and introduced new monsters, expanded game mechanics, seasonal events, and long-requested performance improvements, particularly for the PC version.
Monster Hunter Wilds, which first launched in February 2025, sold more than 8 million copies in just three days, making it the fastest-selling Capcom game of all time. That figure surpasses the 5 million units Monster Hunter: World shipped during its 2018 launch and the 4 million units Monster Hunter Rise achieved in 2021. After the game was released, it faced many technical problems and received a wave of negative reviews. As a result, its player count on Steam dropped by 98% by June.
With Title Update 2, Capcom aims to reverse that trend by adding substantial new content. Two returning monsters, Lagiacrus and Seregios, are now available through additional missions. To unlock the Lagiacrus mission, players must complete the main mission “The World is Upside Down” and the side mission “Doshaguma in the Forest” and reach Hunter Rank (JR) 31. After completing that mission and reaching JR 41, the hardened version of Lagiacrus becomes available. Seregios follows a similar path: players must complete “The World is Upside Down” and be at least JR 31 to access his additional mission, with the hardened version unlocking at JR 41.
The update also reintroduces underwater combat, which is tied to the appearance of Lagiacrus. While earlier games in the franchise have included underwater mechanics, this version restricts weapon usage while submerged to change gameplay dynamics. The update confirms that underwater zones are now part of the Monster Hunter Wilds environment.
A new combat-hardened variant of Uth Duna is also introduced, but it is not yet available. Capcom has confirmed that this version of the monster will appear in an upcoming event quest. Not to mention, hardened monsters can now spawn as part of herds, altering encounter dynamics in the field.
Title Update 2 also brings new customization options. Decoration weapons for both hunters and Palicoes are now available, allowing players to alter the appearance of their equipment. Players who already own α armor sets will automatically unlock the corresponding versions, which can be selected through the decoration armor settings. Other new items include additional charms, stickers, pose sets, gestures, Saikrii decorations, nameplates, profile titles, and helper hunters. Two new helpers, Mina (Sword & Shield) and Fabius (Lance), have been added. Mina becomes available after completing the main mission “Hunter’s Pride.” Fabius is available for a limited time only during a seasonal event.
Capcom has also announced the Festival of Harmony, a seasonal event running from July 23 to August 6, 2025. During this event, the game will feature temporary changes to field expert clothing, Saikrii decorations, the Diva’s playlist, Great Site decorations, the canteen menu, and barrel bowling. Erik and Gemma’s costumes can also be changed during this period. Barrel bowling will include special pin setups and additional reward slots. Barrel bowling bombs will behave differently to create new challenges, distinct from the behavior of Large Barrel Bombs.
The update includes multiple new missions: “Under Voltage,” available after completing “The World is Upside Down” and “Doshaguma in the Forest”; “Partly Clear, Partly Sandstorm,” available after completing “The World is Upside Down”; and the side mission “The Fashion Hunt is Open,” which requires completion of both “The World is Upside Down” and “Quality Seal of the Blacksmith.” A new area in the Karmin Forest becomes accessible during “Under Voltage.” A new conversation with Ferdinand in the Wind Abyss unlocks a charm once certain conditions are met.
New features have been added to the base camps and facilities. Object chests are now placed outside tents at base camps and in the Great Site. There’s a new function that allows switching field experts between Alma and Erik after completing the Lagiacrus mission. Plus, a trading system for seasonal event items is now available at the supply depot. Additional helper hunter selection is now available via the quest switcher. Temporary bounties, such as “Research Aid: Fishing” and “Research Aid: Creatures,” have been introduced. New leaderboard categories for Fishing and Native Creatures are also part of this update.
For PC players, the update delivers significant technical changes. VRAM usage has been reduced by adjusting texture streaming. The estimated VRAM usage displayed in graphics settings now reflects more accurate values, though actual usage has decreased due to optimizations.
DLSS 4 and FSR 4 are now supported for graphical upscaling. NVIDIA RTX 5000 series or higher cards are required for DLSS 4, while FSR 4 requires AMD Radeon 9000 series or higher. Frame generation via NVIDIA DLSS is now available and can double or quadruple frame rates. Frame generation and upscaling settings are now separated for better customization.
Additional PC-specific changes include new keyboard mapping options, screen distortion toggles for underwater and lava environments, quick item refill functions, clipboard copying for lobby and hunter IDs, and various interface updates to the chat log, photo mode, and equipment appearance settings.
Weapon systems have been extensively rebalanced. Adjustments include increased base damage and stun values for the Sword & Shield’s Shield attacks, improved dodge windows and responsiveness for Dual Blades in demon mode, and significant tweaks to Longsword combos like Crimson Slash III. Each weapon type received detailed tuning.
For example, the Hammer now includes special follow-ups after stagger counters, the Hunting Horn features larger echo bubble hit zones, and the Energy Blade includes enhanced explosion damage for elemental vials. Additionally, several bugs across weapon types were fixed, including unintended camera shakes, inaccurate damage values, and issues with weapon sharpness.
Other gameplay changes include faster post-quest control recovery, increased responsiveness for gathering actions, and improved Saikrii mount behavior, such as reduced circling and more consistent input recognition. Helper hunters have been updated, with Olivia performing additional attacks after successful counters and higher attack power at JR 100 and above. Palicoes no longer cancel vitality wasp deliveries under certain conditions. Mounted helpers are now less likely to take damage during large area attacks from monsters like Jin Dahaad.
Barrel bowling pins are now less likely to appear in the same layout on consecutive days. Bugs that caused stumps to float in the Great Site and issues with monster discovery of camps have been resolved. Item bag systems now automatically refill when an item set is used. New interface tools include display options for elapsed quest time, helper hunter damage output, and active talisman effects.
The update also addresses numerous quest-related bugs, such as improper leaderboard registration, missing monster spawns in investigations, and broken quest animations. Specific measures have been implemented to detect and prevent the registration of unfair or fraudulent investigation data, with penalties applied to affected users.
