Super Mario Party Jamboree Gets a Full Makeover for Nintendo Switch 2

Find out what's new in Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch 2, including bug fixes, Jamboree TV expansion, camera features, and pricing details.

Nintendo has released Version 2.0.0 of Super Mario Party Jamboree, an update that introduces a range of specific bug fixes while preparing the title for its expanded release on Nintendo Switch 2. Compatible with both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 platform, the update became available on June 17, 2025, and includes several general improvements and issue resolutions.

According to the official support page, the patch resolves a bug that prevented players from receiving the “Defeat Imposter Bowser for the first time” achievement after the Bowser Kaboom Squad event. In the “Party-Planner Trek” mode, a bug that could cause the game to freeze during specific operations has also been fixed. Additionally, Nintendo addressed a bug where CPU characters in some minigames were being controlled by unused but still connected controllers, which disrupted gameplay.

The update also includes corrections in specific minigames. In “Jr.'s Jauntlet,” an error allowed Thwomp’s attack to push players out of bounds. In the “Three Throw” minigame, a scoring issue caused goals to occasionally fail to register. Another patch corrected an error where the “Mushroom Tickets” item would disappear after a single use under particular conditions. Nintendo confirmed that several other minor adjustments were also included to improve overall stability and user experience. The patch can be applied automatically by launching the game or manually through the software settings on the Home menu.

These fixes come ahead of the release of Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, launching on July 24, 2025, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. This version includes the base game and an upgrade pack that brings enhanced visuals, improved frame rates, and new content. It will be sold at a price of $79.99 and is available for preorder at Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and on the Nintendo eShop, though only one edition is available.

For those who already own the original game on the first Nintendo Switch, the upgrade pack can be purchased separately for $19.99. It is available through the eShop and at select retailers as a printed download code.

The Jamboree TV expansion, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, adds several new minigames and gameplay modes. These new features include input types not available on the original console: audio recognition, mouse-style controls, and enhanced rumble feedback described by Nintendo as “more expressive rumble.” The expansion also uses the Nintendo Switch 2 camera accessory, which is sold separately. Up to four players can be included in gameplay using one camera. Some minigames involve balancing virtual Goombas on players’ heads or hitting question blocks with Joy-Con controllers, while players' faces appear live on screen through the camera feed.

Several of the new minigames include systems that involve unpredictability and performance-based outcomes, which are similar to those found in video games that feature gambling-style minigames, where timing and interaction can lead to different results each time. These mechanics are part of the Jamboree TV expansion’s Switch 2-exclusive features.

Nintendo is also adjusting its pricing structure with this release. While most first-party titles on the original Switch retailed for $59.99, aside from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sold for $69.99, Switch 2 games like Mario Kart World and the new Jamboree edition are priced at $79.99. This indicates a higher standard price point for select titles on the new hardware.

Super Mario Party Jamboree originally launched on the first Nintendo Switch and was praised as one of the strongest entries in the series. It returned to the traditional board-based structure established in the Nintendo 64-era games, with new mechanics and customization options, including Pro Rules for reduced luck-based elements and more strategic play. The game includes new and returning minigames and character-specific challenges. Some reviewers wanted more variety in the minigames, but the core content received strong positive feedback for both local and online multiplayer.

Nintendo had previously released updates for Super Mario Party Jamboree in October and November 2024. The June 2025 patch continues this pattern of regular support, now with a stronger emphasis on preparing the game for expanded functionality and visual improvements on the Switch 2.
