FIFA partners with Konami for esports
The international football organization will use eFootball game for FIFAe World Cup 2024
Konami Digital Entertainment and FIFA have announced a collaboration to continue their worldwide commitment to the advancement of esports. As part of this initiative, two FIFAe World Cup will be featuring eFootball game as the title.
FIFAe World Cup 2024 is an official e-sports tournament by FIFA. This year, 18 countries from around the world will be able to participate in the final tournament. Meanwhile, players who have nationalities other than those of the 18 countries can also participate until Round 3 of the in-game qualifiers in order to still receive the relevant in-game rewards. Previously, EA's FIFA series was used as the main game, but with that partnership ended, Konami's eFootball will be used.
eFootball was the rebranding of KONAMI’s PES Pro Evolution Soccer series, switching to a free-to-play model in 2021.
