Castlevania: Lords of Shadow ships 1mil units
First Castlevania game on the current generation of consoles does well at retail
Konami today announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has shipped one million units in the United States and Europe. The latest Castlevania experience was developed by Mercury Steam in association with Kojima Productions Studio for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
"Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we're extremely pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long," said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment. "The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami's most successful franchises."
In Castlevania: Lords of Shadow players take on the role of Gabriel Belmont, voiced by Robert Carlyle, the hero of the game and part of the legendary Belmont clan from Castlevania lore. Gabriel is a member of the Brotherhood of Light, an elite group of holy knights who protect and defend the innocent against the supernatural. When his beloved wife was brutally murdered by the evil forces of darkness and her soul is trapped for eternity, she realizes the horrific truth of what is at stake and guides her husband to his destiny - and hopefully salvation for the world.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is rated "M" for mature by the ESRB and is now available for purchase at retailers nationwide for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Free demos to download on both platforms are also available.
