PlayStation 5 launch day sales will be online only

Sony announces that no extra units will be sold in person at launch

Posted on

Sony has announced that all day-of launch sales of PlayStation 5 will be conducted through the online stores of retailers.

This means that no units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – so the company asks that nobody camps out or lines up at retailers on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. This is done in hopes of controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those who already have a pre-order secured for pick-up on launch day with a local retailer will still be able to do so, and should check with the local store for details.

PlayStation 5 launches next week in North America.
