Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta details announced
Multiple weekends of action planned before launch
Activision has announced that fans will have a chance to spend some early hands-on time with two different multiplayer betas for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
PlayStation 4 owners will get to play first with an exclusive dedicated weekend that will take place from 10am PT on Friday, August 3 until 10am PT on Monday, August 6. Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will be able to experience the Beta during the second weekend, which will take place from 10am PT Friday, August 10 until 10am PT on Monday, August 13.
To gain access to the console Beta, you will need a Private Beta key that will be provided when pre-ordering the game from select retailers or digitally. All participants in the Beta will receive a unique, one-of-a-kind calling card that they can proudly display. And for every player that achieves max rank in the Beta, they will earn a Permanent Unlock Token to apply to any piece of Create-a-Class content when the game comes out.
PC players will have their own PC Open Beta which will take place from 10am PT Saturday, August 11 until 10am PT Monday, August 13. All you will need is a Battle.net account to access it, but those who pre-purchase through Battle.net will also get a full extra day – beginning at 10am PT on Friday, August 10.
The Private Multiplayer Beta will feature game modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy, alongside Control. Additionally, fans will play new Specialists and reacquaint themselves with returning Specialists Nomad and Prophet, who will be bringing with them brand-new gameplay mechanics built for Black Ops 4.
Last but not least, Blackout (Black Ops take on battle royale) will have its own Beta coming in September, first on PS4, with more details to come.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch in October for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
