Annual video game convention peaks at over 68,000 attendees
E3 2017, the annual trade show focused on video games, technology, and entertainment, has come to an end.
A total of 68,400 people attended E3 2017 and millions more around the world watched the week’s events online, according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). The increase from the 50,300 that attended last year are due to the public passes. For the first time, 15,000 members of the public were able to visit he show floor by purchasing tickets, joining video game professionals, analysts, and journalists.
More than 2,000 products were showcased by 293 exhibitors, including more than 120 exhibitors with virtual reality products. The show also beat social media records from previous years, generating 15 million E3-related posts across Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, according to the most recent data available.
E3 2018 will take place June 12-14, 2018, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
