Xfire spammed, downtime experienced
Xfire's resources appear to have been spammed, this includes a downtime across user servers, as well as forums spam
Today, Xfire (a gamer chat service) has experienced a lengthy downtime. This prevented users from logging in for a number of hours, and the website was done for a short time as well.
It seems that a hacker/alias known as DESU was the person/group responsible for the outage. At the end of the day, user's service has been restored and many are able to once again login to the client. However, the official forums are still experiencing a large amount of spam threads with no end currently in sight.
Xfire is a freeware instant messaging service targeted at gamers, that also serves as a game server browser and has various other features. Xfire was originally developed by Ultimate Arena based in Menlo Park, California. The service currently has over 14 million registered users.
