Halo Forge coming to Windows 10
Free level building tool is coming to PC
Microsoft and 343I have announced that Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition is coming to Windows 10.
Forge is a mod tool created to be used by players to make changes to maps in order to tweak their gameplay experience. Maps altered in Forge are referred to as map variants, and possible alterations include the modification of player spawn points, gametype objective points, weapons spawns, and the addition of scenery items such as crates, Fusion coils, gravity lifts, teleporters, and various other items.
The Forge for Windows 10 will include some new features designed specifically with PC users in mind, including keyboard & mouse support, increased resolution, ability to test and play with friends, and publish creations to Xbox One players. In the coming months there will also be new environments, advanced file sharing capabilities, new pieces, palettes, props, and more.
"Since we released Forge in Halo 5 we’ve seen so many amazing new things come from it – from weird mini-games we could have never anticipated to meticulously crafted maps that are even approaching the visual quality of internally built maps. The team has continued to wonder what we’d get if we could put Forge in the hands of as many people as possible, and making it free on Windows 10 literally gives the chance to anyone who wants to jump in and try their hands at building a cool new map for Halo 5," said Tom French, UGC Director, 343 Industries.
Halo 5: Guardians was released last Fall exclusively on Xbox One.
