No new Assassin's Creed game this year
Ubisoft confirms there will not be a triple-A release for the franchise in 2016
Publisher Ubisoft has announced that there will not be a new major entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise this year.
This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise. We’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics," said the company in a statement.
If you're looking for an AC fix in the meantime, a 2D spinoff Assassin's Creed Chronicles was released this week. Also, you can check out last year's AC Syndicate.
Fans can also look forward to Michael Fassbender in action as the lead Assassin in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie that hits theaters on December 21, 2016.
