YouTube Gaming launches
New hub for streaming and game-related videos
YouTube Gaming is now live for all users who can currently access YouTube. Much like Twitch, it places streaming content at the forefront. It also allows people to subscribe to their favorite games and then stay updated with new streams, let’s plays, reviews or popular videos for that specific game.
Each game has a central area which will display recent uploads. This makes it a little easier to navigate and find gaming videos, removing superfluous content that is often associated with gaming videos. Major content creators will be prominently displayed at the top of each gaming hub, including TotalBiscuit and PewDiePie, followed by the most viewed content.
YouTube Gaming uses HTML5, unlike its flash-powered competitor Twitch. It allows viewers to pause, rewind or speed up live videos thanks to special DVR functionality. All existing gaming videos will be viewable in the YouTube Gaming hub and there is a phone and tablet app available for US and UK residents.
You can access the portal via gaming.youtube.com
