15 Years Later: A Farewell from the Founders

We launched New Game Network back in 2009, not with a grand business plan, but with a shared love for games and a desire to cover them with our own voice, in our own way. What began as a two-person passion project grew into something we were fortunate to sustain for an incredible and unbelievable decade. We’ve written thousands of articles, played more games than we could ever count, and attended industry staples like E3, GDC, and Gamescom multiple times. We got accepted into private events, celebrated by our peers for our coverage quality, and had amazing unique opportunities. Through all the crunch, game and console launches, and surprises — this site has been a huge part of our lives. It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating our 10 year milestone.

But now, after more than 15 years of running New Game Network, the time has come for myself and my co-founder Ben to step away. This isn’t a move to another site, a new role, or a behind-the-scenes gig - we are just hitting Esc on this part of our lives. The gaming itself will continue, of course!

Along the way, we were lucky to work with some fantastic contributors and staff writers who helped shape the voice and quality of the site over the years. Their work, ideas, and passion added so much, and we're eternally grateful for their time and talent. Together, the team has written over 2 thousand reviews, 500+ previews, and other features, which is an amazing sum for a not-for-profit, self-made publication. And of course a big shout out goes to Ben, my colleague and friend for so many years; without his technical expertise and inspiring spirit we could not have succeeded.

That said, this isn’t the end for the site itself. We’re pleased to share that the site has been acquired by a new company who plans to continue operating it.

To those who’ve followed us over the years — whether you’ve been here since the early days or just stumbled across a review now and then — thanks for reading. After 16 years of staying in sync with the gaming industry, it is time to take a break. We are passing ownership of the site to another team. It has been a great run and we’ve seen many fantastic gaming institutions come and go over the years. Creating NGN and keeping it running is something I will always be proud of and remember fondly.

Firstly I wish to thank our readers for hanging around and commenting on our articles. Also a big thanks goes to our 50+ contributors over the years. All of their unique voices were fantastic but special mention goes to Josh, Tim, Pete, Eric, David, Stephen, Brendan, Charlie, and Evan. And I wish to personally thank my friend and site co-founder, Alex, for his monumental efforts with news and articles posting, along with all the PR work. He is the glue that held the site together and excels at everything.
