PlayStation Announces New 27-Inch Gaming Monitor for PS5 Coming in 2026
Sony has introduced a 27-inch gaming monitor developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment and designed specifically for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. The announcement appeared at the end of Sony’s November State of Play, a 40-minute presentation centered on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 titles from Japanese and Asian studios, including Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, and Koei Tecmo. The showcase also included the Elden Ring Nightreign DLC announcement, the next closed beta dates for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and the confirmation that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake launches on March 12, 2026.
At the back of the monitor, there are two HDMI IN ports (version 2.1) and one DisplayPort IN port (version 1.4). The HDMI IN ports support up to 2560 × 1440 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, FRL, and VRR. The DisplayPort IN supports up to 2560 × 1440 resolution, 240Hz, and DSC. The monitor includes two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port that can be used with PlayStation Link adapters or other devices. It also features built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio output. The design is compatible with select VESA mounting systems.
Sony published a backside view of the PlayStation monitor showing the charging hook positioned below the display, though a disclaimer in the reveal did state that “design and specifications are subject to change.”
During the State of Play Japan broadcast, Sony confirmed that PlayStation is releasing a 27-inch monitor equipped with a built-in DualSense and DualSense Edge charging hook. The hook is positioned at the back of the monitor next to its cable ports and can be rotated and stowed out of sight when not in use. Sony mentioned that since the launch of the PlayStation 5 console, players have increasingly chosen where they play—whether on large living room TVs, elsewhere in the home, or remotely using PlayStation Portal. With that trend in mind, the company stated that it is “pleased to introduce another option for players” with the 27-inch Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook, coming to both the U.S. and Japan.
The monitor features a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display that supports resolutions up to 2560 × 1440; it includes High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically adjusts HDR settings during setup on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles. The monitor supports VRR and refresh rates up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro and up to 240Hz on compatible PC and Mac devices. When connected to a base PlayStation 5 console, the maximum refresh rate is 120Hz.
Sony said the monitor pairs with the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, which were recently announced and designed for lifelike desktop audio and seamless voice chat. These speakers are part of a lineup that also includes the Pulse Explore earbuds, the Pulse Elite wireless headset, and the PlayStation Portal remote player.
Sony confirmed that the PlayStation gaming monitor will launch in the U.S. and Japan in 2026, with further details on the launch date and availability to come. As for price, Sony has not yet announced it. Similar monitors—such as the Samsung Odyssey G6—often retail for around $300–400, while models with comparable specifications and OLED screens can range from $500–700. Sony has not said whether its pricing will align with these benchmarks, and the final amount will remain unknown until an official announcement is made.
