PlayStation 4 sales surpass 18.5 million units

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the PlayStation 4 has cumulatively sold through more than 18.5 million units worldwide as of January 4, 2015, and that the holiday season retail sales exceeded 4.1 million units globally.

In addition, over 10.9 million users are subscribed to the PlayStation Plus membership service, as of January 2, 2015.

PS4 software sales also remain strong with more than 81.8 million copies sold in retail stores globally and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store as of January 4, 2015, including 17.8 million sold during the holiday season.

Number of retail sales to consumers is estimated by SCEI. The PS4 system is currently available in 123 countries and regions worldwide.
