Ubisoft announces system requirements for Assassin’s Creed: Unity
High-end PCs needed to run the next-gen Assassin’s Creed game
System requirements for Assassin’s Creed: Unity have been posted on the official Ubisoft forums and on the Steam store page:
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit operating system required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 (2 GB VRAM)
Hard Drive: 50 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers
Additional Notes: Windows-compatible keyboard and mouse required, optional controller
RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit operating system required)
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 290X (3 GB VRAM)
Hard Drive: 50 GB available space
The minimum requirements for Assassin’s Creed: Unity are exceptionally high. Ubisoft have claimed for some time that Unity is a true next-gen game, and it is not being released on the previous generation consoles. A quick visit to the Steam hardware survey (dated September 2014) reveals that at least 78% of gamers do not meet the minimum graphics card requirements.
Dead Rising 3 and Ryse are two PC games available on next-gen consoles. DR3 has high minimum requirements, but they are still lower than those for Unity. Ryse has far lower minimum requirements, showing the strength of Crytek to scale their engine on the PC platform. The new engine for AC: Unity does not seem to scale to lower-end computers. Unity also requires a PC system that easily outperforms the Xbox One in recent games.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity is coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 on November 11.
