Destiny special editions and DLC Pass announced

Dates for Beta access also finalized on all platforms

Activision and Bungie today confirmed the Destiny Beta dates, as well as the special editions for the upcoming shooter.

Fans who pre-order Destiny at a participating retailers are guaranteed access into the Beta, which will commence this month. The Beta begins first for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 systems at 10:00am PDT on July 17. Then at 10:00am PDT on July 23, fans on Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be able to jump in.

Activision also revealed today three collector’s edition versions of the game: The Destiny Ghost Edition ($149.99), the Destiny Limited Edition ($99.99), the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition ($89.99). The Destiny Ghost Edition and the Destiny Limited Edition both include a SteelBook Case and Game Disc, Guardian Folio, and the collector’s edition digital content pack. The Destiny Ghost Edition will also include a Ghost replica, featuring motion-activated lights and voice recordings from Peter Dinklage, a Letter of Introduction, and Golden Age Relics, which include a Photo, Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler.

All three editions also include the Destiny Expansion Pass – a DLC pass that includes two expansions, which will include brand new story missions, cooperative activities and competitive multiplayer arenas, new weapons, armor and gear to earn. Expansion I will be called The Dark Below, set deep beneath the surface of the Moon, where fans will discover an ancient tomb that has been unsealed. Expansion II will be House of Wolves, with details to be revealed later. Fans can pay $34.99 for the pass, and Expansion I and Expansion II will also be priced individually at $19.99 when they launch.

PlayStation platforms will also include additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II and will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015.

Destiny will launch this September on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
