Rainbow 6: Patriots development restarted
Publisher says the game wasn't coming together, development back at design stage
Ubisoft has revealed that Rainbow 6: Patriots development had to be restarted and original design revamped.
Speaking to IGN, North American president Laurent Detoc explained what has happened to Patriots since the original announcement back in 2011.
“We had a core team. They had a good vision. They got started, and then the game wasn’t working. So [they had] to start again. Rainbow had to be remade. Now they’re going to have the benefit of the new consoles, if and when it comes out. It’s one of those examples where you try, it doesn’t work, you try again."
“Could it become a shooter with another name in the end, because the team doesn’t want to do counter-terrorist guys? Say they want to be in a mercenary setting? That’s possible.”
Rainbow 6: Patriots was revealed as a PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 title in November 2011. Only one CGI trailer was released.
