Diablo 3 Auction House shutting down next year
Blizzard makes bold move in hopes of improving the RPG in the long run
Blizzard Entertainment has made a bold move and announced plans to shut down the Diablo 3 Auction House in 2014.
Posting on the official blog, John Hight announced that "it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot."
While the details of how the auction house system will be shut down are still being worked on, the developers still wanted to share the news now, in order to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. As it is planned, the shutdown will occur on March 18, 2014.
"We feel that this move along with the Loot 2.0 system being developed concurrently with Reaper of Souls expansion will result in a much more rewarding game experience for our players," John Hight added.
Diablo 3 was released on PC in May of 2012, and only just this month for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
