Nintendo reduces price of Wii U Deluxe Set
The high-end console bundle is now $299
Nintendo has announced that it has cut the retail price of the top-end Wii U console model to $299.
Starting September 20, the Deluxe version of Nintendo's Wii U system will be reduced in price by $50. The company hopes the new price makes Wii U an even greater value, particularly with the lineup of Wii U games available and on the way for the system in 2013.
The deluxe version has 32 GB of storage, and is now the same price as the Basic Wii U model with 8 GB of storage. Oddly enough, the Basic model was not reduced and will also cost $299.
Nintendo released the Wii U late last year and the company has admitted the new console is struggling with unit sales. The maker hopes to compete with the release of PS4 and Xbox One this holiday season.
