The International 2013 pulls in 1 mil peak viewership
Simultaneous online viewership of over 1 million reported for DOTA 2 tournament
Valve has announced that reports from three online carriers of The International 2013 Dota 2 Championship show the five-day event held last week achieved a peak simultaneous online viewership of over 1 million gamers.
Doubling last year's record viewership, the 1 mil peak simultaneous figure represents a total of those who watched the event online via Twitch, Gamefy (China), and Valve's services.
The International was launched two years ago in Cologne, Germany during Gamescom with 16 of the most elite Dota 2 teams competing in a group stage, double elimination playoff format for a grand prize of $1 million.
Dota 2 is a free-to-play, online action strategy game created by Valve.
