Bethesda not currently developing for Wii U
Publisher says hardware limitations are to blame
Bethesda Softworks has stated over the weekend that it has no current short-term plans to bring its titles to Nintendo's Wii U console.
Speaking to Joystiq at Quake Con, Bethesda VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines stated: "None of the game's we've announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it's guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U. Will any future ones come out? I can't say for sure, in our near-term focus it's not on our radar."
The titles he was referring to include current games in development The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within. All of these titles are hitting either current or next-generation platforms from Sony and Microsoft.
"It's largely a hardware thing. We make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed," he added.
The Wii U continues to struggle attracting third-party developer support, with most publishers citing a small user base as the cause for skipping the platform. Bethesda joins EA and a few other publishers in choosing not to release a port, while companies like Activision continue to vouch their support for Nintendo's console.
