Tribes Ascend development stopping
Hi-Rez Studios says the company is moving on to other projects
Hi-Rez Studios's Todd Harris has commented on the current state of Tribes Ascend and that the studio will now move on to other project.
The open letter comes as a responce to player criticism that the online free to play shooter hasn't been updated for many months. Now, it seems, it won't be at all.
"There are no major dev updates planned for Tribes: Ascend in the next six months. For the next six months our primary development focus is SMITE. Beyond that it is GA2. And beyond that a Tribes Ascend 2 would be more likely than a major update to TA; but to be clear no devs are currently working toward TA2," he stated.
The shooter was last updated four months ago today. The company will continue to support the game's servers. "Per the development blog on our forums, the recent Tribes Ascend work has been Kate developing some additional maps. If time allows then these new maps (along with some bug-fixes) would be finalized and deployed but no committed date yet."
Tribes: Ascend was released just a little over a year ago for PC. An Xbox 360 version was originally planned but is no longer in production.
